Disney shares new details on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

BAY LAKE, Florida, – At a D23 Fan event at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on Saturday, the company shared new details about a new attraction expected to come to EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

During the special event, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products President Josh D’Amaro said the attraction will open in the summer of 2022.

“This exciting new family coaster matches the ‘grandeur’ and fun of the hit ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies in what will be one of the longest fully enclosed coasters in the world,” Disney described. on his blog.

The new attraction is located in the park’s new World Discovery district, in the former Energy Universe pavilion.

“The Xandarians traveled from their homeworld in the Andromeda Galaxy to Earth – or Terra, as they call it – to build this Pavilion of Xandar Wonders, inviting EPCOT guests to learn more about their people and their advanced technologies. Until the Guardians arrive, anyway, and the adventure ensues, ”Disney described in a press release.

Disney also shared new renderings of the Xandar Gallery on Saturday, where guests will learn more about the Xandar people, culture and history, including the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The new attraction will be one of the longest fully enclosed coasters in the world, housed in one of the largest exhibition buildings ever built for a Disney theme park. The thrill ride is also the first Disney roller coaster with a reverse launch.

To help make the announcements, D’Amaro enlisted the help of Oscar nominee Glenn Close, who will reprise his role as “Guardians of the Galaxy” as Nova Prime, the leader of Xandar and commander of the Nova Corps.

Disney plans to share more details about the attraction during its 18-month Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary celebration.
