Disney World attraction permanently removed a few days earlier

There never has been and perhaps never will be a more infamous Disney World show than Animal Kingdom’s KiteTails. During the show’s lifespan at the park, guests took to social media to share various videos of the daytime shows, as kites crashing into the bleachers were quite common, so point that Disney now says it’s supposed to happen and is “All sides of fun.”

Unfortunately, for fans of the series, Disney has announced that the live entertainment offering will be permanently shut down later this month.

September 30 was supposed to be KiteTails last show, but due to Hurricane Ian things have changed. Disney announced that the resort would close due to dangerous weather conditions. Effective immediately, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Water Parks – Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon – will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Disney Springs will close on Wednesday, with a decision for Thursday to be announced later.

This unfortunately means KiteTails’ run at Animal Kingdom has been cut short, with the last official day being September 27th. During the KiteTails screening party, cast members informed guests that today would actually be the show’s last performance.

Hearts and imaginations will soar as incredible kites and windcatchers dance through the air to beloved Disney songs during this high-flying performance at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Marvel at the elaborate three-dimensional kites of Simba, Zazu, King Louie, Baloo and more as they soar above the Discovery River Theatre, starting October 1, 2021 during the 50th anniversary celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort.
