How to Experience Disneyland Halloween Time Without a Park Ticket
Any Disney fans who are currently keen to sample Disneyland Resort’s spooky season specials, but do not have a park ticket or reservation, should be aware that the Halloween Time festivities are not are not actually limited to just park goers.
The eerie charm cast on the resort extends to the Downtown Disney District and the hotels of the Disneyland Resort. These areas adjacent to the park feature their own seasonal delights, including special decor and aural ambiance, as well as limited-time snacks, candies, and ghoulish merchandise galore.
A good haunted hunt
Families will be delighted to learn that the popular Pluto’s Pumpkin Chase is back this year Downtown Disney District and will run until October 31 (or while supplies of game boards run out). It’s a fun scavenger hunt-style event the whole family can enjoy together, as you explore Downtown Disney, looking for special decorative pumpkins hidden throughout the district.
Start by buying a game card (with stickers) at select Disney outlets, such as the World of Disney store, for less than $10, then go water bottle hunting! Each time you find one of 13 special hand-painted pumpkins, each inspired by a different Disney character, place a sticker on your game card. Whether or not you decide to smell all the pumpkins, be sure to collect your card at the store to receive one of four mini pumpkin buckets.
Along the way, you’re sure to be impressed by Downtown Disney’s sprawling, meticulously manicured flowerbeds that have been transformed into autumnal arrangements, with more than 5,000 individual plants artfully arranged in 14 planters.
Songs to give you goosebumps!
Six of the 999 Grim Grinning Ghosts of Haunted Mansion, “The SCAREolers” is an a cappella group that comes to socialize at select Downtown Disney nights. This ghostly cheer club sings heart-pounding Halloween-themed songs, including Hocus Pocus’ “I Put a Spell on You” and other Disney villain tribute songs, Friday through Sunday nights September 30 through October 31 2022. singers can also be caught strolling the grounds of the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa on some October afternoons.
Imagine yourself in “Hocus Pocus 2”
If you visit the Downtown Disney District between September 20 and October 31, 2022, you’ll find a special photo op available to celebrate the upcoming release of the Disney+ movie, “Hocus Pocus 2,” which fans of the original cult classic film have been anticipating with impatient for some time. Look for its location between Splitsville and Tortilla Jo’s.
Fall in love at first bite
Of course, even outside of the parks, you can count on seasonal food and drink specials throughout the Disneyland Resort, pumpkin-spiced treats and clever Halloween-themed concoctions that reflect the look of your favorite Disney characters to restaurant menu items.
Some of the many Downtown Disney restaurants and snack bars where you can get your fix of fall-flavored treats include Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes, La Brea Bakery Cafe, Ballast Point Brewing Co., Naples Ristorante e Bar, Marceline’s Confectionery, Kayla’s Cake, Sprinkles, Jamba and Salt & Straw. At hotels, head to GCH Holiday Cart, Hearthstone Lounge, GCH Craftsman Grill, and Coffee House for Halloween-themed fare.
