Wyoming ranch formerly owned by Walt Disney for sale

A remote Wyoming ranch once owned by the Walt Disney family, surrounded by mountains and national forests and just 23 minutes from Yellowstone National Park, has hit the market for $71 million, according to real estate firm Hall and Hall. .

Diamond G Ranch is about 90 miles east of Jackson Hole near the town of Dubois. The ranch covers approximately 5,000 deeded acres and contains a five-bedroom lodge that served as the owner’s residence. Other structures include a log guest house with an enclosed porch and two log cabins.

There is a huge century-old barn with storage on the first level and an office, meeting room and kitchenette upstairs. Another structure on the grounds is a 1,500 square foot manager’s house with three bedrooms.

A nearly five-mile stretch of Du Noir Creek runs through the property, as well as a lake. The ranch is in the valley of the Dunoir River. Dramatic mountain peaks soar 11,000 feet above. The wildlife on the grounds is vast: wolverine, elk, wolves, grizzly bear, cougar, moose, antelope and more. The fishing on the property is world class, according to Hall and Hall. Several kilometers of the Dunoir River provide cutthroat, brown and rainbow trout over 20 inches.

The ranch operation is suitable for summer grazing and the production of grass hay for sale.

The property is extremely private as it sits at the end of a private road and wraps almost the entire valley with three sides bordering the national forest which offers no public access through the ranch.

The owner is an LLC related to Stephen Gordon, a former manufacturing executive who bought the ranch in the 1980s, according to the Wall Street Journal, which cited public records.

The Disney family sold the historic ranch to the current owners about 33 years ago, according to Hall and Hall.

A group of Morton Salt Company executives from the 1950s and 1960s owned the land before selling it to the Disney family, according to a Hall and Hall representative. The cattle ranch was purchased by Retlaw Enterprises, a company owned by family members of entertainment magnate Walt Disney in 1968.

Diamond G is “arguably the finest mountain ranch retreat in the Western Rockies,” according to the official property listing. “There is hardly anything else one would want to own.”

James H. Taylor of Hall and Hall is the listing agent.
